Overhead Spotters Course

UETDREL006 – Work safely in the Vicinity of Live Electrical Apparatus as a Non-Electrical Worker otherwise known as Overhead Spotters Course covers compliance with working safely near live electrical apparatus, including powerlines, for non-electrical workers. Participants will learn to operate safely up to the defined Safe Approach Distance (SAD) and adhere to established safety procedures for non-electrical activities, such as vegetation control, scaffolding, rigging, painting, and other tasks near live electrical equipment. The course also covers the preparation of risk assessment control measures, including job safety assessments.

The course does not cover work performed by other competent operatives within the defined safe working zone. The safe working zone is defined by relevant state or territory regulations, industry guidelines, and codes of practice for working near live electrical and mechanical apparatus.

Course Entry Requirements for Overhead Spotters Course

To enroll participants must comply with site policies regarding dress and safety when the course is conducted off-site. Participants should bring a pen or pencil.

Course Duration and Delivery

• Duration: 1 day (flexible start and finish times)
• Location: Courses are open to the public and delivered at our purpose-built facility upon request.
• Delivery: Participants will engage in both theory and practical activities. Face-to-face training is led by our qualified and experienced trainers.
• Amenities: Morning tea, afternoon tea, coffee, and lunch are provided when delivered at Thurgoona Training Academy (TTA).

Recognition of Prior Learning and Pathways

Due to the short nature of this Overhead Spotters course RPL is not offered
