COURSE OVERVIEW

Certificate II in Fire Fighting is suitable for emergency response team members, fire fighters and individuals responsible for public safety including production workers, maintenance staff, managers and supervisors. This qualification will provide participants with the practical knowledge and skills to apply a wide variety of firefighting and emergency response techniques. This certificate is made up of eleven units; 6 core units and choose 2 electives from group A and 3 electives from group B.

  • HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid.
  • PUASAR022 - Participate in a rescue operation.

  • PUALAW001 - Protect and preserve the incident scene.
  • PUAFIR220 - Respond to isolated structure fire.
  • PUAWHS001 - Follow defined WHS policies and procedures.
  • PUAFIR206 - Check installed fire safety systems.
  • PUAFIR204 - Respond to wildfire.

VOCATIONAL OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to consider the following job roles:

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Enclosed footwear, safety boots, 100% cotton drill shirt, clean shave as per AS/NZS 1715, medically fit

DELIVERY AND DURATION

Certificate II Public safety Fire Fighting is open to the public and available upon request. Learners will receive training in both theory and practical activities.

RPL/LEARNING PATHWAYS

RPL is not offered.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Where units of competency within this qualification have pre-requisite requirements, the learner must have been assessed as competent in a fire context prior to undertaking training and assessment.
