COURSE OVERVIEW
This course covers the competency required to demonstrate first attack firfighting equipment which may include such incidents as a small fire the can be controlled using a nearby extinguisher. Topics covered in the course include basic chemistry of fire, the selection and operation of hand held firefighting appliances. Participants will receive “Hands on” use of fire extinguishers, fire blankets and hose reels.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Demonstrate correct use of portable fire extinguishers to extinguish simulated fires
- Demonstrate correct use of fire hose reels
- Demonstrate correct use of fire blanket
VOCATIONAL OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to consider the following job roles:
- Member of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Participants are required to wear Safety Boots or enclosed footwear, wear suitable attire and bring with them a pen/pencil.
DELIVERY AND DURATION
Duration: 2 hours Time: 8.30am to 10.30am (Additional times can be arranged) This course is open to the public and can be delivered on your site or ours. Learners will receive training in both theory and practical activities.
