Hazardous Substances Spill Response (PUAFER008)

COURSE OVERVIEW

Hazardous Substances Spill Response is designed specifically for the handling and control of small spills or leaks of hazardous materials. Learners will receive hands on use of spill control equipment and PPE.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Prepare for emergency situations
  • Identification and assessment of the substance, spill and situation
  • Safely confine emergencies where possible
  • Use initial response equipment
  • Correctly dispose of contaminated spill absorbent
  • Report workplace emergency response

VOCATIONAL OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to consider the following job roles:

  • Member of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)

This unit is appropriate for the following:

  • Any organisation

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Safety Boots or enclosed footwear, suitable attire and pen/pencil

DELIVERY AND DURATION

Duration: 2 hours Time: 8.30am to 10.30pm Hazardous Substance Spill Response is conducted on request at the Academy and can be delivered on your site upon request. Learners will receive training in both theory and practical activities. Tea/coffee is provided when delivered at TTA

RPL/LEARNING PATHWAYS

RPL is not offered. Students who complete this unit of competency may be eligible for entry into further study such as: PUA20619 Certificate II Public Safety
